Heavy Rains

The rains have started falling in most areas of our country.

It saddens my heart when I see all the top soil being washed away by the storm water, and this is largely due to erosion and cutting down of trees. But I digress. (This is actually a story for another day…)

Water Harvesting

As I took a stroll in my village, I came across this commendable effort by a local farmer, to harvest and efficiently collect the rain water on his farm. This water can later be used for irrigation.

The above is a good initiative indeed. The only thing this farmer has to contend with is loss of most of this water through evaporation.
